Tantalus Mountain Safety is led by Jason Budd, an IFMGA Mountain Guide with extensive experience in mountain guiding, technical rescue, fire service, search & rescue, and military operations. This combination of field experience, technical training, and instructional expertise provides practical, real-world safety and rescue solutions for teams operating in demanding environments.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• IFMGA Mountain Guide

  Trained under the ACMG/AMGA and guiding since 2013.
  Professional member of the Canadian Avalanche Association.
• Technical Rescue

  Trained under the NFPA/JIBC Technical Rescue Program.
  A qualified Terradaptor Tripod Instructor.
  Attended 5 Rigging For Rescue seminars, including a Waterfall Ice Rescue.
• Fire & Rescue

  Worked for Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services for 15 years as a member of the Technical Rescue Team.
  Member of the Canadian Task Force-1 Heavy Urban Search & Rescue.
• Search & Rescue

  Member of Squamish Search & Rescue Team for 7 years, specialized in Ground Search & Rescue, Swift Water Rescue, Mountain Rescue, and the Winter Response Program.
• Military Experience

  Member of the Canadian Armed Forces and the British Army for 15 consecutive years.
  Senior Non-Commissioned Officer in the infantry, trained and led soldiers for numerous deployments in high hazard theaters of operations internationally.
• Rope Rescue Instructor

  NFPA Fire Service Instructor.
  Instructor for Vancouver Fire & Rescue Technical Rescue Team and Canadian Task Force-1 Heavy Urban Search & Rescue.
  JIBC Fire Division Rope Rescue Instructor.
  Worked as a Rope Rescue Instructor for 15 years in the private sector.

  Worked in the rope access industry for 18 years.
